Winnipeg, MB – Two men have been arrested in connection with a 2023 Main Street homicide, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

The investigation began after officers found 33-year-old Treymiane Traverse deceased in a hotel room in the 600 block of Main Street on March 9, 2023. Traverse was a member of the O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation in South Indian Lake, Manitoba, and had been living in Winnipeg.

According to police, the case remained under investigation until this month when two suspects were identified and taken into custody. On October 16, 2025, officers arrested 36-year-old Dion Trent Spotted Eagle on a warrant for second-degree murder. Three days later, on October 19, 2025, 34-year-old Harry Andrew Bittern was arrested on warrants for aggravated assault and an apprehension and suspension order. Both men were detained.

Investigators say Traverse, Spotted Eagle, and Bittern were known acquaintances at the time of the killing. Police did not release further details about the motive or circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
