A Winnfield man was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 499 in Winn Parish on Sunday afternoon.
According to Louisiana State Police, 34-year-old Dustin M. Pickron was driving a Dodge Ram southbound around 3:45 p.m. when his vehicle left the roadway and struck several trees. Pickron, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.
Routine toxicology samples were collected, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are urging drivers to remain attentive behind the wheel, as distracted driving continues to be a leading cause of accidents in Louisiana.
