Rockford, Illinois – A Rockford police officer is facing additional felony charges in an ongoing home repair fraud and theft investigation spanning three counties.
According to Illinois State Police, Division of Criminal Investigation Zone 2 agents submitted new criminal charges against 35-year-old Corey Roser of Rockford following an expanded investigation into alleged offenses in 2024 and 2025.
The Rockford Police Department requested ISP to investigate Roser’s on- and off-duty business practices. He was placed on administrative leave at the outset of the investigation and remained on leave throughout, authorities said.
In February, Roser was charged in Winnebago County with five counts of theft of property over $500 but less than $10,000, four counts of home repair fraud and one count of official misconduct. Following his initial arrest, investigators said new victims and additional evidence were identified.
Roser has now also been charged with two counts of theft by deception and one count of burglary for alleged incidents in McHenry and DeKalb counties. The DeKalb and McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Offices issued arrest warrants, and Roser turned himself in March 4, 2026, at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, according to ISP.

The charges are allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
