Baltimore, MD – A Wind Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, warning residents in parts of Virginia and West Virginia to prepare for strong winds beginning Friday evening.

The advisory, in effect from 6 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday, forecasts northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Affected areas include the Central and Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Highland County, and Eastern Pendleton County in West Virginia.

According to the National Weather Service, the strong winds may cause unsecured objects to blow around, with the potential for downed tree limbs and isolated power outages. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items and exercise caution while driving, especially in high-profile vehicles.

Authorities recommend taking preparedness actions, such as avoiding unnecessary travel during peak wind conditions and ensuring emergency supplies are accessible in case of power outages.
