Williamson County, IL – A hit-and-run accident early Wednesday morning led to the apprehension of two juvenile suspects and the recovery of a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred in a construction zone near Illinois Route 148 and Grassy Road.
According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the scene at 7:37 a.m. and received reports that the driver was wearing a ski mask. The vehicle was later identified as stolen from Mounds City, IL.
Authorities attempted a traffic stop, but the suspects fled, eventually crashing near Herrin. The juveniles, who have extensive law enforcement histories, were apprehended after a foot pursuit.
The scene is now secure, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
