Manhattan police are investigating a burglary early Thursday morning at Southside Tobacco & Vape on Route 52. Authorities discovered a shattered glass entry door around 5:17 a.m. and secured the building before notifying the business owner.
According to the Village of Manhattan Police Department, preliminary findings indicate that suspects arrived in a dark-colored SUV and used an object to break the glass door. The offenders allegedly stole multiple items, including cartons of cigarettes, before fleeing the scene.
Detectives are currently reviewing surveillance footage and pursuing other leads. At the time of the incident, officers were conducting extra patrols near another tobacco store in response to a string of similar burglaries reported in neighboring areas.
