Naperville, IL – A 35-year-old Wheaton woman died following a car crash Monday evening at the intersection of Naper Boulevard and Hobson Road in Naperville.
Naperville police reported that at approximately 8:01 p.m., Sarah A. Jelgerhuis was driving a 2020 Nissan Kicks when she turned left from Naper Boulevard onto Hobson Road. During the turn, her vehicle was struck by a 2023 Ford Bronco driven by a 17-year-old Naperville resident. The impact forced the Nissan into a nearby pond, partially submerging the vehicle.
According to the Naperville Police Department, Jelgerhuis was taken to a nearby hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Authorities are still investigating the crash. Traffic investigators and reconstruction specialists responded to the scene to gather evidence. Officials ask anyone with information to contact the Naperville Police Department’s Traffic Unit at (630) 420-8833.
The 17-year-old driver involved was not reported to have any serious injuries.
