Kankakee, IL – The Daily Journal, an Illinois newspaper owned by the same family for more than a century, has been sold to Shaw Media. The publication has been a key part of the Kankakee community since its founding in 1903.

Shaw Media CEO John Rung in a statement said the company is committed to upholding the Daily Journal’s legacy. “We are honored to continue the Small family’s legacy of publishing the Daily Journal,” Rung said.

The previous owners expressed confidence in the sale, emphasizing the importance of preserving the paper’s role in regional news. The Daily Journal serves readers across multiple counties including Kankakee, Iroquois, and Grundy.
