Western Pennsylvania – A strong weather system is set to impact Western Pennsylvania this week, beginning with heavy rain Monday night and transitioning to snow by midweek.
The National Weather Service predicts rain will begin late Monday evening and persist through Tuesday, with some areas receiving over an inch of precipitation. Roads like I-79 and I-376 could experience ponding, so drivers should use caution during the Tuesday morning commute. Winds could gust up to 20 mph, adding to potentially hazardous conditions.
Temperatures will remain mild Monday and Tuesday, with highs in the mid-50s. However, a sharp drop is expected by Wednesday, bringing highs in the upper 30s and the possibility of snow showers. Rain will likely transition to snow Tuesday night as colder air moves into the region, with light accumulations possible, especially in higher elevations.
By Thursday, temperatures will plunge further, with highs only reaching the 20s and lows dipping into the teens.
Residents should prepare for a wet start to the week and monitor conditions as snow and colder weather arrive by midweek. Be sure to check local forecasts and plan accordingly for potential travel disruptions later this week.
