Paducah, Ky. – A dangerously hot and humid weekend is unfolding across Kentucky, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s and heat index values approaching 102° in some areas. While today may stay mostly dry, scattered showers and storms are expected to return Sunday and continue into midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Saturday’s highs will range from 92–95°F, with heat indices between 96–101°F. Isolated thunderstorms could develop this afternoon, but widespread rain is unlikely until Sunday, when a more unsettled pattern sets in. Scattered storms will linger daily through at least Wednesday.

Cities including Bowling Green, Owensboro, and Murray should prepare for afternoon heat surges and sudden downpours that could disrupt travel and outdoor plans. Motorists are urged to check road conditions before heading out, as slick roads and brief gusty winds may accompany storm cells.

Residents are advised to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable neighbors. With daily highs staying in the upper 80s to low 90s, humidity will continue to push “feels-like” temperatures well above 95°.

Scattered thunderstorm chances remain through Wednesday, with updates expected as new alerts are issued.
