Paducah, Ky. – A stormy pattern will settle over western Kentucky starting Wednesday, bringing the threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, daily rounds of showers and storms will begin midweek, with rainfall totals expected to reach 2 to 3 inches in parts of the region by Sunday evening. Areas such as Murray, Poplar Bluff, Cape Girardeau, and Paducah are likely to see the heaviest rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding and travel slowdowns.

Temperatures will remain seasonably warm, with highs in the upper 80s and muggy overnight lows in the upper 60s to low 70s. The mix of heat and moisture will fuel storm development, especially in the afternoons and evenings. Commuters should watch for ponding on roads, especially in low-lying areas, and keep an eye out for lightning and gusty winds during stronger cells.

Residents are advised to check weather alerts daily, secure outdoor items, and avoid driving through flooded roadways. Rain chances are expected to increase again Friday into Saturday, with more advisories possible.

⚠️ Storm chances and rainfall totals remain elevated through at least Sunday evening.
