Phoenix, Arizona – Light to moderate rain swept across central and southern Arizona on Sunday, bringing measurable totals to cities from Casa Grande to Yuma — and even setting new daily records in a few spots.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, showers had mostly tapered off by 9 p.m. MST, though isolated rain is expected to continue overnight in higher elevations northeast of the Valley. Casa Grande recorded the highest total at 0.35 inches, followed by Deer Valley (0.29″) and Phoenix (0.24″). Rainfall also reached as far west as Yuma, where 0.10 inches broke a daily record.
Scottsdale picked up 0.23 inches, while Gila Bend saw 0.20. Even typically dry spots like El Centro, California, and Buckeye, Arizona, received light rain. Areas such as Wickenburg (0.04″) and Blythe, California (trace), saw the lowest amounts.
Motorists should remain alert on wet roads overnight, especially in foothill areas where runoff may linger. Residents in northern Maricopa and southern Yavapai counties may still encounter brief showers through early Monday.
Rain chances diminish by sunrise, but a warming trend is expected to return midweek.
