Dodge City, Kansas – Calm and mild conditions will continue across western Kansas through midweek, but a shift toward wetter weather is expected by Thursday, potentially impacting travel and outdoor plans heading into the beginning of the week.

According to the National Weather Service in Dodge City, mornings will start cool with temperatures in the 30s and 40s, while afternoon highs climb into the upper 60s and 70s through Wednesday. Skies will gradually clear Monday, setting up a stretch of stable weather across communities including Garden City, Liberal, and Hays.

By Thursday, a developing storm system will begin pushing moisture into the region, bringing a 40 to 60 percent chance of rain. Showers may become more widespread into Friday, especially along U.S. Highway 50 and U.S. Route 83, where wet roads could slow travel during peak periods.

While severe weather is not currently the primary concern, periods of steady rain could create slick conditions and minor ponding on roadways. Temperatures will remain mild despite the increased cloud cover, with highs continuing in the 60s.

Residents should use the dry weather early in the week to prepare for changing conditions later on. Keep an eye on updated timing as the system approaches, especially for Thursday and Friday travel plans.

Rain chances may taper off by Saturday, with warmer and drier conditions returning into the weekend.
