Phoenix, AZ – The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) has postponed the planned closure of westbound Interstate 10 near downtown Phoenix. The closure, initially scheduled from October 11-14, was intended for pavement and signage improvements between the I-17 “Split” interchange and the I-17 “Stack” interchange. ADOT now expects this work to occur in early 2025, with a new schedule forthcoming.

ADOT advised drivers to stay cautious around other freeway projects in the Phoenix area. Ongoing construction means lane reductions and detours, which could increase traffic congestion. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and merge safely when approaching work zones.

The rescheduling of this closure gives commuters a temporary reprieve, but ADOT emphasizes the importance of these improvements for long-term road safety and efficiency. Drivers are encouraged to stay updated on upcoming closures and plan alternate routes when needed.
