Canaan Valley, W.Va. – Residents in Eastern Tucker County should prepare for frost early Sunday morning as temperatures dip to near freezing across the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Pittsburgh, a Frost Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Sunday for cities including Davis, Thomas, and the Canaan Valley. Lows are expected to reach 35°F, creating conditions favorable for frost formation.

Sensitive outdoor vegetation may be at risk during the advisory window. The NWS cautions that unprotected plants could be damaged or killed, especially in low-lying areas where colder air tends to settle overnight.

Gardeners and homeowners are urged to cover delicate plants or bring potted ones indoors. This late-season chill follows a stretch of milder temperatures, reminding residents that cold snaps remain possible in higher elevations like Tucker County well into late May.

This is the fourth frost advisory issued for the area this spring, and additional alerts could follow if cool weather persists into next week. Warnings remain in effect through 9 a.m. Sunday.
