Charleston, WV – The threat for severe thunderstorms in West Virginia has diminished for the night and for the upcoming weekend. However, residents should still prepare for potential heavy rainfall through Saturday. According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston, a cold front will move through the area by Saturday night, clearing out the rain.

According to the NWS, there remains a marginal threat for locally excessive rainfall overnight, especially in southwest Virginia. Heavy downpours could lead to high water issues in areas with poor drainage. By Saturday, the excessive rainfall threat will shift east, with conditions expected to improve by Sunday.

The extended forecast for Charleston indicates a clear and warm week ahead. On Sunday, temperatures will range from 67°F to 89°F, with sunny skies. Monday will see a high of 93°F, followed by a scorching 94°F on Tuesday. The weather will remain sunny and dry, providing relief from the recent storm threats.

Wednesday’s forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with temperatures reaching 89°F, while Thursday and Friday will be slightly cooler, with highs of 86°F and 84°F respectively. These clear conditions are expected to persist, allowing residents to enjoy the warm summer weather without the threat of severe storms.
