Upshur County, WV – Recovery efforts continue across flood-stricken Upshur County as the Wood County Sheriff’s Office and community partners deliver truckloads of donated supplies to residents impacted by last week’s devastating flooding.
According to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office, deputies have been working alongside Upshur County Sheriff Mike Coffman and other law enforcement agencies from across West Virginia to support ongoing relief operations.
Officials said deputies assisted in Upshur County on Thursday by delivering drinking water to residents and providing general patrol coverage in the southern portion of the county.
On Friday, the sheriff’s office said 20 skids of bottled water and other essential supplies were transported to Upshur County to assist residents as recovery efforts continue. Authorities said the donations were made possible through contributions from Wood County residents and local businesses.
According to the sheriff’s office, the supplies include remaining donated items that were originally collected during the recent Peoples Cartage fire response, allowing those resources to be redirected to communities now facing flood-related hardships.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office also thanked the Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department, the Wood County Office of Emergency Management/911, local businesses, and volunteers who helped collect, store, and preserve the donated supplies until they were needed.
Officials also recognized the Back 2 Life Foundation and the people of Wood County for their continued generosity, saying the donations reflect the strong community support being shown to neighbors affected by the disaster.
Flood recovery operations remain ongoing in Upshur County as emergency responders and volunteers continue assisting residents with immediate needs and long-term recovery.
