Charleston, WV – West Virginia is set to experience another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms as a cold front moves through the region, bringing much-needed rainfall to alleviate ongoing drought conditions. The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued alerts for severe weather, including a marginal risk of thunderstorms and potential flash flooding today and tomorrow.

According to the National Weather Service, the storms will begin to intensify late this morning and continue into the afternoon, with the most significant impacts expected by early Saturday. The cold front will push through the state, causing temperatures to drop slightly, though they will remain above normal. Residents should prepare for strong to severe thunderstorms that could bring damaging winds, heavy downpours, and localized flash flooding.

Saturday will continue to see showers and storms, particularly in the morning hours, before the weather tapers off later in the day. By Sunday, conditions are expected to dry out, with temperatures rising back into the high 80s and low 90s. However, the risk of flash flooding remains for areas that receive repeated heavy rainfall.
