Amarillo, TX – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the West Texas South Plains and Panhandle, effective through 10 p.m. MDT on Saturday. Residents are urged to prepare for potentially dangerous weather conditions, including large hail and damaging wind gusts.
According to the NWS Storm Prediction Center, storms may develop in the afternoon and continue through the evening. There is a possibility of hail as large as 2.5 inches in diameter and wind gusts reaching 65 mph. A tornado or two cannot be ruled out.
The watch area covers a broad region, including areas around Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle. Citizens should remain vigilant and stay updated on local weather reports as conditions may rapidly change.
