West-Central Texas Faces Bitter Cold as Wind Chills Drop to 5°F

San Angelo, TX – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for west-central Texasfrom 9 p.m. Thursday to 9 a.m. Friday, as wind chills could drop as low as 5°Fovernight.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in San Angelo, affected areas include Abilene, Brownwood, Brady, and San Saba. Officials warn that prolonged exposure to these frigid temperatures can lead to hypothermia.

Residents should dress in warm layers, cover exposed skin, and check on vulnerable neighborsPets should be brought indoors, and outdoor pipes should be insulated to prevent freezing.

Although temperatures will begin to warm Friday afternoon, another cold front could move through early next week.
