Milwaukee, WI – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for parts of Wisconsin, including areas near Lake Superior, effective until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of severe storms moving east-northeast with the potential for damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes.
According to the NWS, the storms could produce wind gusts up to 70 mph and hail up to 2 inches in diameter. The possibility of tornadoes adds to the urgency for residents to remain alert.
The NWS urges residents to monitor local weather updates and take immediate action if severe weather approaches. The watch area includes regions approximately 65 miles east and west of a line from 45 miles northwest of Ely, MN, to 35 miles southwest of Fairmont, MN.
