Greenville, SC – South Carolina is set to experience intense heat and humidity this week, with temperatures reaching the high 90s and a heat index soaring above 100 degrees. Scattered thunderstorms will also pose risks of locally heavy rain and isolated wind damage.
According to the US National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg, scattered thunderstorms on Tuesday will bring the highest chance of severe weather in the afternoon. The mountains may see a second round overnight, with isolated wind damage possible and near-normal temperatures.
Wednesday’s forecast indicates less threat from damaging winds but higher temperatures. The heat index is expected to exceed 100 degrees for most of the area, with southern regions near I-85 reaching up to 105 degrees.
Looking ahead, Thursday will see a slight increase in temperatures, with highs nearing 96 degrees. The heat will persist into Friday, with similar conditions expected. By the weekend, temperatures will slightly drop to the lower 90s on Saturday and high 80s on Sunday, offering a brief respite.
