Jackson, KY — Eastern Kentucky residents should prepare for a mix of showers and thunderstorms before cooler and drier weather arrives midweek. The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a forecast calling for a 60% to 80% chance of storms starting Sunday, with partly to mostly cloudy skies dominating the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, the highest probability of storms will occur near the Virginia and West Virginia borders, with areas west of the foothills likely to see less precipitation. Highs on Sunday and Monday will range from 76°F to 82°F, while overnight lows will hover between 60°F and 67°F.
By Tuesday, the weather is expected to clear, bringing sunny skies and lower temperatures. Highs will range from 73°F to 81°F, with lows dropping significantly to the mid-40s to 50s. The clear and cooler trend is expected to continue through Wednesday, providing a pleasant respite after the stormy weekend.
