Tallahassee, FL – A significant weather event is expected to impact portions of Florida, Alabama, and Georgia tonight as a cold front moves through the region. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee warns that severe thunderstorms may develop ahead of the front, bringing damaging winds and the potential for hail.

According to the NWS, the most dangerous period for storms will occur from late afternoon into the evening. Southeast Alabama and southwest Georgia are expected to be hit between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. CT (6 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET), while the Florida Panhandle could see storms from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. ET (6 p.m. to 2 a.m. CT).

Meteorologists emphasize that these storms could bring wind gusts strong enough to cause damage, along with hail and dangerous lightning. Residents in the affected areas are urged to stay weather-aware and have multiple ways to receive severe weather warnings.

In addition to the storm threat, a Heat Advisory is in effect for the region, with temperatures in the mid-90s and heat indices ranging from 104 to 112 degrees. The NWS advises residents to stay hydrated and avoid strenuous outdoor activities during the heat of the day.
