Washington, D.C. – Residents across the Washington metropolitan area will enjoy an unusually comfortable stretch of summer weather through the weekend, with below-normal temperatures, low humidity and only isolated chances for showers in a few locations.
According to the National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington, most of the region will remain dry through Saturday despite a slight chance of showers, mainly along the Interstate 81 corridor in western Maryland, eastern West Virginia and nearby portions of Virginia. High temperatures Friday will range from 72 to 83 degrees, with overnight lows falling into the lower to middle 60s.
Saturday brings another pleasant day with highs between 73 and 83 degrees and morning lows from 59 to 68 degrees. Communities including Washington, Baltimore, Frederick, Hagerstown, Leesburg and surrounding areas can expect a mix of sun and clouds, making for favorable conditions for outdoor activities, travel and community events.
By Sunday, temperatures begin a modest warm-up with highs reaching 74 to 87 degrees. Most locations will stay dry for much of the day, but a few showers and thunderstorms could develop, particularly during the afternoon and evening as moisture gradually returns to the region.
Those spending time outdoors should continue to stay hydrated, but the cooler temperatures will provide a welcome break from recent midsummer heat. Travelers along the I-81 corridor should remain alert for brief showers, although widespread rainfall is not expected.
The pleasant weather pattern is expected to continue through much of the weekend, with the National Weather Service monitoring shower chances into Sunday and providing additional updates if conditions change.
