Washington, D.C. – A winter weather advisory remains in effect across Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia as light snow is expected to create hazardous road conditions Thursday morning. Areas further west, including parts of West Virginia, may see heavier snowfall and strong wind gusts.

According to the National Weather Service, snow accumulation is expected to reach up to one inch in the D.C. metro area, Baltimore, and surrounding Maryland and Virginia counties. The advisory remains in effect from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday. Commuters should plan for slippery roads and reduced visibility.

In western Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia, snowfall is expected to range between 1 to 3 inches, with winds reaching up to 50 mph. The advisory for those regions extends through 7 a.m. Friday. Strong winds could cause downed tree branches and power outages.

Drivers are advised to slow down, use caution, and check road conditions before traveling. Pedestrians should be mindful of icy sidewalks and stairs. For updated road conditions, call 511 in your state.
