Johnson City, TN – Snow showers continue across eastern Tennessee and southwest Virginia, making roads hazardous for drivers through Thursday evening. Additional snow accumulations of up to 3 inches are expected in higher elevations, while lower areas could see up to an inch.

According to the National Weather Service in Morristown, TN, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST for parts of Johnson City, Kingsport, Greeneville, and Gatlinburg, TN, as well as Wise and Russell counties in Virginia. Some areas, particularly in the Smoky Mountains, may see heavier snowfall.

Travelers should expect slippery roads, especially on bridges and overpasses. Morning and evening commutes could be impacted, with potential delays in affected regions.

Authorities advise drivers to slow down, use caution, and check 511 for updated road conditions. Snow showers are expected to taper off later tonight, improving driving conditions into Friday.
