Roanoke, VA – A Roanoke man was arrested after a multi-agency drug task force seized a large quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin and cash during a criminal search warrant executed in the city this past Friday.

According to the Virginia State Police, the James River Regional Drug Task Force—supported by the Star City Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Virginia State Police Special Operations Division—executed the warrant on May 30 in the 2400 block of Broadway Avenue SW in Roanoke.

The operation followed an investigation in Bedford County into methamphetamine and heroin containing fentanyl. Investigators allegedly identified Jayshawn Lamonte Lomax, 27, of Roanoke, as a key suspect. He was tracked to a residence in Roanoke where authorities say he was found in possession of approximately 1,886 grams of fentanyl, 1,275 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and 425 grams of marijuana. The estimated street value of the narcotics was $247,117.00, officials said. Authorities also allegedly found two firearms and $16,665 in U.S. currency.

“The removal of these illegal drugs and those responsible for the sale of drugs is the goal of the administration,” said Captain Jeff Bartlett, Commander of the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation Salem Field Office. “We are working together to ensure our communities remain safe.”

Bedford County Sheriff Mike Miller added that the seizure was a direct result of strong agency collaboration.

Lomax was charged with Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Heroin and Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a Firearm while in Possession of Drugs.
