Richmond, VA – Virginia commuters should brace for significant traffic delays on I-95 this weekend due to a bridge replacement project. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced that the work will affect both northbound and southbound lanes at mile marker 74 near Broad Street. The project is set to begin Friday at 8 p.m. and continue through Monday at 6 a.m.

According to VDOT, the bridge replacement will require multiple lane closures, causing major delays in the area. Motorists are strongly advised to seek alternate routes to avoid the congestion. Suggested detours include I-295, I-195, Route 288, and Route 1/301.

VDOT recommends checking http://511Virginia.org for real-time traffic updates and planning ahead to minimize travel disruptions. The project schedule is weather-dependent, so travelers should stay informed about potential changes. Local law enforcement and the Virginia State Police will be on-site to assist with traffic management and ensure public safety.
