Gallatin, TN – A Sumner County man is accused of driving under the influence twice within a 12-hour period after deputies say he returned to drinking shortly after being released from jail following an earlier DUI arrest.
According to the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office, Davis Fyke was first arrested Saturday after deputies investigated an alleged hit-and-run in Gallatin. Authorities said Fyke was later found unconscious at a state park, where he was arrested on DUI charges, booked into jail, and released later that night.
Investigators allege that after his release, Fyke returned to the state park, resumed drinking alcohol, and drove off-road through a campground. Deputies said beer cans were found spilled from the vehicle.
The Sheriff’s Office said Fyke was arrested a second time for allegedly driving under the influence, marking two DUI arrests within approximately 12 hours.
Authorities said Fyke is currently being held on a $125,000 bond.
The Sheriff’s Office used the case to remind motorists not to drink and drive, noting the dangers impaired drivers pose to the public.
The allegations against Fyke have not been proven in court. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The investigation remains ongoing, and additional court proceedings are expected.
