Richmond, VA – A powerful winter storm is set to bring heavy snowfall and hazardous conditions to Virginia and northeast North Carolina, with totals ranging from 3 to 10 inches depending on location. The storm is expected to cause significant travel disruptions through Thursday evening.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wakefield, VA, the storm will begin Wednesday morning in central Virginia, spreading southeast throughout the day. Areas such as Richmond, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach could see accumulations between 5 and 10 inches, while regions farther inland, including Cumberland and Prince Edward counties, are forecast to receive 3 to 6 inches.

Northeast North Carolina, including Hertford and Pasquotank counties, may see up to 9 inches of snow, along with light ice accumulations. NWS warns of difficult travel conditions, particularly during the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
