Burlington, VT – A winter storm will bring snowfall to Vermont Friday night before transitioning to rain in many areas by Saturday morning.
According to the National Weather Service Burlington, snow will develop this evening and continue overnight, with accumulation ranging from 2-5 inches across the state. The Champlain Valley and western slopes of the Adirondacks will see snow changing to rain late tonight.
Snowfall rates could briefly be heavy, reducing visibility to less than half a mile at times. Travelers should prepare for slippery road conditions, especially late tonight and early Saturday.
By Saturday morning, temperatures will rise, causing precipitation to transition to scattered rain showers. Snowfall accumulation will be highest in northern Vermont, with some areas exceeding 4 inches.
The system will move out by Saturday afternoon, with drier conditions returning Sunday. Residents should stay informed on road conditions and allow extra travel time Friday night into Saturday morning.
