Burlington, Vt. – Vermonters can expect a soggy start and finish to Tuesday, but most areas will catch a midday break from the rain as temperatures climb into the 70s west of the Green Mountains.
According to the National Weather Service in Burlington, high temperatures on May 6 will range from the upper 50s and low 60s in eastern Vermont to the mid 60s and low 70s in the west. Intermittent showers are likely throughout the day, though a temporary lull in precipitation is forecast around midday for many regions.
Drivers on Route 2 and I-89 should prepare for changing road conditions, especially during the morning and evening commute hours. Southeastern winds of around 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, may also make for a breezy afternoon across Chittenden, Addison, and Rutland counties.
Residents are encouraged to keep rain gear handy, secure outdoor items, and stay weather-aware as the day progresses. While no flooding is expected, low-lying spots could briefly pond water during heavier downpours.
Showers are expected to return later in the day, and additional updates may be issued if rainfall becomes more widespread or intense.
