Burlington, VT – A winter weather advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Thursday for Vermont and northern New York, with snow, ice, and strong winds expected to create hazardous travel conditions.
According to the National Weather Service, affected areas include Eastern Addison, Orange, and Western Rutland Counties in Vermont, as well as several counties in northern New York, including Franklin, Clinton, Essex, and St. Lawrence. Snow and sleet accumulations will range from 1 to 7 inches, depending on location, with a light glaze of ice also possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph.
Slippery roads, particularly on bridges and overpasses, may make travel dangerous during the Thursday morning and evening commutes. The gusty winds could also bring down tree branches, potentially causing power outages.
Residents should use caution while traveling and check road conditions at New England 511 for Vermont and 511NY for New York updates.
