Southern Utah – Snow is expected to accumulate up to 15 inches in Southern Utah’s mountainous regions starting Sunday, as a Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect from 6 a.m. Sunday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service warns of challenging travel conditions, particularly at elevations above 9,000 feet, including on State Route 12.

According to the National Weather Service, the heaviest snowfall will occur between Sunday and Monday afternoons, with moderate to heavy snow likely in high-elevation areas. The snowfall is expected to significantly impact travel overnight, but major disruptions are not anticipated during the daytime hours.

Motorists traveling along SR-12 should exercise caution, as roadways may become slick, especially during the overnight hours when temperatures drop below freezing. Drivers should stay informed of road conditions by checking the Utah Department of Transportation’s website. Additionally, outdoor enthusiasts heading to the higher elevations should be prepared for changing conditions and pack appropriate gear.

The advisory is expected to end early Tuesday morning, though further updates may be issued if conditions worsen. Stay tuned to local weather sources for the latest information on this developing winter storm.
