Salt Lake City, UT – Freezing temperatures are putting crops and outdoor plumbing at risk across much of Utah, with a double round of cold expected to hit both early Tuesday and again overnight into Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, a Freeze Warning remains in effect until 9 a.m. Tuesday for areas including Brigham City, Cedar City, Richfield, and Fillmore, where temperatures could drop as low as 25 to 28 degrees. A second Freeze Warning will take effect at 9 p.m. Tuesday and continue until 9 a.m. Wednesday across central and southern Utah, including the Sanpete and Sevier valleys, as well as the Uinta Basin and Canyonlands region.

Communities such as Price, Delta, Roosevelt, and Ephraim will see repeated exposure to sub-freezing temperatures, increasing the risk of crop damage and harm to sensitive vegetation. Agricultural areas and backyard gardens are especially vulnerable during this early growing season stretch.

Residents are urged to cover plants, protect outdoor plumbing, and bring sensitive vegetation indoors where possible. Even brief exposure to these temperatures can cause lasting damage.

Cold conditions will ease after sunrise Wednesday, but additional advisories remain possible if temperatures trend lower than expected.
