Michigan – A mix of winter and spring weather will impact Michigan this week, bringing gusty winds, snow chances, and a sharp warm-up by the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service, northern and eastern Lower Michigan will experience gusty winds Monday night into Tuesday as a cold front moves through. Wind gusts could reach 35 mph, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially on exposed roadways like I-75 and US-131. Light snow showers are possible Tuesday morning, but accumulations are expected to be minimal.
In the Upper Peninsula, the Keweenaw Peninsula and areas along Lake Superior could see winds reaching 40 mph late Monday into Tuesday, along with blustery conditions and a chance of snow showers. The NWS warns that melting snowpack may create hazardous ice conditions on rivers and lakes, with some potential for lakeshore flooding.
Looking ahead, Michigan will see a significant warm-up later in the week. By Thursday and Friday, temperatures will climb into the 50s and 60s across much of the state. Rain is likely late Friday into Saturday, with cooler temperatures returning by Sunday.
Drivers should exercise caution during Tuesday’s gusty winds and monitor road conditions. Warmer temperatures later in the week may lead to rapid snowmelt and potential flooding concerns. For real-time updates, visit weather.gov.
