Ann Arbor, MI — Over the weekend, police responded to a home on the 2000 block of Placid Way after a resident discovered a hand grenade. The homeowner found the potentially dangerous item while going through a family member’s World War II memorabilia collection.

According to the City of Ann Arbor Police Department, the homeowner immediately contacted authorities upon discovering the grenade. Officers quickly secured the area and notified the Michigan State Police (MSP) Bomb Squad. The squad arrived and carefully examined the grenade, determining it was inert and posed no explosive threat.

Police praised the homeowner’s actions, emphasizing the importance of reporting suspicious items. The department advised residents to avoid handling any suspected explosives and to call 911 or local dispatch for assistance.
