Two Teens Injured in Halloween Shooting in Kankakee, Police Investigating

Kankakee, IL – Two teenagers were injured in a shooting on Halloween night near S. Greenwood Avenue and E. River Street in Kankakee. Police responded to reports of shots fired around 6:50 p.m., encountering four juveniles at the scene. Two of the youths informed officers they had been shot.

The victims, a 16-year-old boy with a shin injury and a 14-year-old boy with a hand injury, received first aid from officers before being transported to a hospital by Kankakee City Fire and EMS.

Officers located the crime scene at the intersection of S. Greenwood Avenue and Park Place, where they collected several shell casings. Investigators processed and photographed the area for further evidence.

Multiple witnesses were present and cooperated with police. Authorities believe the incident to be isolated, with known suspects involved. The Kankakee Police Department urges anyone with information to contact its Detective Bureau at 815-933-0426.
