Porter County, IN – A high-speed pursuit on I-94 early Monday led to the arrests of two Illinois men and the seizure of a fully automatic weapon. The incident began around 4 a.m. when Trooper Jace Haddon spotted a white Audi speeding at 110 mph in a construction zone near the Lake-Porter County line.
According to Indiana State Police, Haddon initiated a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The pursuit ended at the Burns Harbor exit after the Audi struck a semi-truck. No injuries were reported.
During the arrest, the driver, Brandon Williams, 19, of Rockford, reportedly resisted but was detained after a brief struggle. A search allegedly revealed a modified Glock 45 machine gun and $15,980 in cash. Williams faces multiple charges, including possession of a machine gun and reckless driving.
The passenger, Marega Yussuf, 19, of Chicago, was also arrested and charged with machine gun possession. Both suspects are held at Porter County Jail awaiting formal charges.
