Two Firefighters Injured Battling Indianapolis Home Blaze

Indianapolis, IN – A family of four and their dog were displaced Sunday evening after a fire consumed their home.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, the fire broke out around 8:53 p.m. at 8425 Southern Springs Drive. Flames began in the garage and quickly spread, forcing the family to flee. No family members or their pet sustained injuries in the incident.

Two firefighters were hurt during the overhaul phase while checking the home’s stability. The kitchen ceiling collapsed, injuring one firefighter moderately, who was transported for medical care. Another firefighter received treatment on-site and was released.

Fire crews worked to contain the blaze and ensure no further spread to nearby properties. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire, which left the home heavily damaged.

The displaced family is receiving assistance from local resources, while the department reminded residents of the importance of fire safety and preparedness.
