Hobart, IN – A barn fire on Green Street required extensive efforts from the Hobart Fire Department and several mutual aid agencies Saturday night. The incident, reported around 8:05 p.m., initially appeared to be a brush fire. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered the barn fully engulfed in flames.

With no hydrants nearby, water supply became a challenge. Firefighters activated a mutual aid tanker plan to shuttle water to the scene. According to the Hobart Fire Department, coordinated efforts among multiple agencies helped contain the fire before it could spread further.

Crews spent several hours battling the fire due to the heavy fuel load within the structure. Firefighters cleared the scene after midnight. No injuries were reported, and Green Street has since reopened to traffic.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Officials expressed empathy for the barn’s owners and thanked the public for cooperating with detours. The department also extended gratitude to all assisting agencies for their vital support.

Hobart Fire Department remains committed to keeping the community safe.
