Minneapolis, MN – A mix of light rain and snow could create slick travel conditions across the Twin Cities and much of Minnesota late Saturday into early Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in the Twin Cities, precipitation is expected to develop overnight Saturday, April 18, 2026, with minimal snowfall accumulation but a risk of icy roads where temperatures dip below freezing. Overnight lows are forecast to range between 25 and 35 degrees.

Forecasters say that while impacts should remain limited, untreated roads and bridges could become slippery, especially during the early morning hours Sunday. Drivers are urged to use caution if traveling overnight or early in the day.

Conditions are expected to improve quickly by Sunday, with decreasing clouds and daytime highs reaching into the 40s. A warming trend will follow into the start of the workweek.

By Monday, temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-50s to near 70 degrees in parts of western Minnesota, with mostly sunny skies continuing through Tuesday and Wednesday. Highs could reach the mid-70s by midweek in some areas.

The next chance for precipitation is expected later in the week, with rain chances returning by Thursday.

Residents across the Twin Cities, including Minneapolis and St. Paul, as well as surrounding areas, are encouraged to remain aware of changing conditions overnight and plan accordingly for early morning travel.
