Tulsa, OK – An intense heat wave is set to sweep through Oklahoma this week, with temperatures in Tulsa and surrounding areas expected to soar above 100°F. Residents are urged to take precautions as the heat index is forecasted to reach as high as 107°F by mid-week.

According to the US National Weather Service in Tulsa, the heat index values will increase daily, peaking around Thursday. Tulsa will experience temperatures of 100°F today, climbing to 104°F by Tuesday and peaking at 107°F on Thursday. Fort Smith and Fayetteville are also expecting similar extreme heat conditions.

The weather service advises people to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and check on vulnerable populations, including the elderly and young children. Cooling centers and public facilities are being prepared to provide relief from the heat.

This week’s extreme temperatures are part of a larger pattern affecting much of the region. The forecast shows a slight cooling trend by the weekend, but temperatures will remain high, with Tulsa expecting highs in the mid-90s by Saturday.
