Tucson, AZ — Southeastern Arizona is set for a shift in weather today as a system aloft moves through the area, bringing with it increased chances of rain and thunderstorms. According to the National Weather Service in Tucson, light showers are expected this morning, particularly in areas south and east of Tucson. As the day progresses, the likelihood of afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms will increase, offering a brief reprieve from the region’s typical August heat.

High temperatures today are forecasted to be at or just a few degrees below normal, providing some relief from the usual intense summer heat. Tucson is expected to see a high near 92°F today, with surrounding areas like Nogales and Douglas experiencing highs in the upper 80s to low 90s.

As the week continues, temperatures are predicted to climb again, with highs reaching 98°F by Friday and nearing 99°F over the weekend. Despite the rise in temperature, the possibility of additional isolated thunderstorms remains, particularly in the afternoons and evenings.
