Tornado Watch Effective in Southeast Georgia Until Early Tuesday

Savannah, GA – The National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center has placed Southeast Georgia and Coastal South Carolina under a tornado watch until 1 a.m. Tuesday. Tropical Storm Debby is expected to bring severe weather, including the possibility of tornadoes.

The watch covers areas within 45 miles of a line from 50 miles south-southwest of Savannah, GA, to 45 miles east-northeast of Charleston, SC. Residents should be prepared for severe thunderstorms and wind gusts up to 60 knots.

According to the NWS, a tornado watch indicates favorable conditions for tornadoes and severe storms in the watch area. Residents are advised to take precautions, such as seeking shelter and staying away from windows.
