Baltimore, MD — Residents in Northeast Maryland and extending southwest to Charlottesville, Virginia, should prepare for potential thunderstorms on Monday. The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Marginal Risk of severe weather for the region, forecasting afternoon thunderstorms that could bring gusty winds and heavy rainfall.

According to the NWS, the thunderstorms are likely to develop as the day progresses, with a 40% chance of precipitation in Baltimore and surrounding areas. Temperatures are expected to reach 83°F in Baltimore, contributing to the instability needed for storm development. Areas in the marginal risk zone include key cities such as Frederick, Alexandria, and Washington, D.C.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the rest of the week shows more stable conditions. Starting Tuesday, clear skies and lower temperatures are expected, with highs in the mid-70s to low-80s through the weekend. Tuesday will see a high of 76°F, while Wednesday and Thursday will remain in the mid to upper 70s with sunny skies.

Residents are advised to stay updated on weather alerts and take necessary precautions during Monday’s potential thunderstorms.
