Charleston, SC – South Carolina residents should brace for a mix of warm temperatures and thunderstorms as a typical summer weather pattern continues across the region. Today’s forecast includes a 40% chance of rain with temperatures climbing to a high of 90 degrees, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

According to the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg, a round of thunderstorms is expected to develop this afternoon, but the severe risk remains low. These storms will primarily affect areas in the Upstate, where temperatures are expected to stay in the 80s, bringing some relief from the mugginess experienced in previous days.

Meanwhile, in Charleston, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible between 3 PM and 7 PM, with damaging wind gusts up to 70 mph and frequent cloud-to-ground lightning posing significant risks. High temperatures will persist through the week, with highs near 87 degrees on Tuesday and mid-80s expected Wednesday through Friday, accompanied by scattered showers.

Looking ahead, the weather pattern will likely remain unsettled, with thunderstorms expected through Saturday. Temperatures are projected to stay in the mid-80s, offering little reprieve from the summer heat. Residents should remain vigilant, especially during peak storm hours.
