Logansport, IN – A three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Logansport Road and US 24 injured two people on Saturday evening. The accident occurred around 5:07 p.m., involving a 2009 GMC sport utility vehicle, a 2024 Honda Civic, and a 2022 Dodge Ram pickup truck.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana State Police, local fire departments, and emergency medical services responded. Investigators reported that Douglas Etter, 54, of Carmel, Indiana, drove eastbound on Logansport Road when he allegedly failed to yield to the Honda Civic, driven by 19-year-old Cayden Weaver of Logansport.
The impact forced the Civic into a westbound Dodge Ram, driven by Ricky Hoff of Peru, Indiana, which had been stopped at a traffic sign.
Emergency crews airlifted Weaver to a Fort Wayne hospital with serious injuries. Rees Zellers, a passenger in the Honda Civic, received treatment for minor injuries at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
Authorities suspect alcohol involvement in the crash. They obtained a warrant for a blood draw from Etter, whose test results will be reviewed by the Cass County Prosecutor’s Office.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate. Anyone with information is urged to call 574-753-7800.
