Three Hospitalized After Cass County Car Crash at Logansport Road Intersection

Logansport, IN – A two-vehicle crash in Cass County left three people injured on Wednesday evening, September 4. The collision occurred at 6:06 p.m. at the intersection of Logansport Road and County Road 600 East.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, a 1994 Buick LeSabre driven by Kathryn Sturgill, 42, of Peru, was heading northbound when she allegedly failed to yield the right of way. Sturgill’s vehicle collided with an eastbound 2017 Dodge Journey, driven by Melissa Murphy, 47, also of Peru.

Sturgill and a juvenile male passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. Murphy was taken to Logansport Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The intersection remained closed for about an hour and a half for investigation and vehicle removal.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash. Authorities stated alcohol and drugs are not believed to have been involved. Anyone with further information is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 574-753-7800.
